The Cooltra Group, a leading company in sustainable two-wheeled mobility in Europe, has become a new member of Collectif Mobilité. This initiative brings together stakeholders committed to developing sustainable and accessible transport solutions in major French cities and their surrounding areas.
“At Cooltra, we work to improve urban quality of life through sustainable two-wheeled mobility. By joining Collectif Mobilité, we want to join forces with other industry players to promote sustainable and innovative transport alternatives,” says Fabien Douay, Director of Cooltra France.
“Thanks to its services available in Paris, Cooltra contributes to the development of shared mobility. These services are increasingly attracting citizens, serving as the perfect complement to walking and public transport by offering sustainable, efficient, and flexible mobility. We are proud to welcome the Cooltra team to our working groups,” adds Vincent Pilloy, founder and coordinator of Collectif Mobilité.
Through this partnership, Cooltra aims to actively contribute to discussions and initiatives led by Collectif Mobilité to drive the transition towards greener mobility—aligned with the objectives of major French metropolitan areas to reduce emissions and improve air quality over the next 25 years.
France: A Key Market for Cooltra
Cooltra entered the French market in 2015, offering moped rentals for individuals and businesses—most of them electric. Over the past few years, the company has cemented its position as one of the leading operators of electric moped sharing in Paris, where it has been active since 2021.
Now, Cooltra aims to expand its offering in Paris with an innovative shared electric bicycle service. With a well-established presence in the city thanks to its moped-sharing service, the company already has the team, infrastructure, and user base needed to facilitate the rollout of this new service.
Cooltra’s proposal stands out for its innovation and sustainability, introducing cargo bikes for families, an ultra-light and accessible bicycle, and the integration of mopeds and bicycles into a single app. Furthermore, the recent acquisition of Cityscoot in 2024 reinforces its leadership in the micromobility sector, ensuring efficient and sustainable operations by optimising resources across both services.
In the coming weeks, the Paris City Council’s public tender will be decided, and Cooltra is positioned as one of the leading candidates to transform urban mobility.
About the Cooltra Group
Cooltra was founded in Barcelona in 2006 with the goal of providing sustainable two-wheeled mobility services for both tourists and residents. In just a few years, the company has undergone significant expansion, growing from renting 50 mopeds in a single Barcelona office to operating a fleet of 30,000 vehicles by the end of 2024—85% of which are electric—with over 100 rental locations across Europe and a team of more than 600 employees.
Beyond short- and long-term moped rentals, Cooltra now offers corporate leasing, fleet management for businesses and public administrations, and a new public bike-sharing service for municipalities.
Cooltra is also the driving force behind Europe’s first electric moped-sharing service, now available in over 20 cities. In March 2024, the company announced a partnership with felyx in the Netherlands and Belgium, further strengthening its market leadership.
