The Cooltra Group, Europe’s leading company in sustainable two-wheeled mobility, is taking a new step in its growth strategy with the acquisition of the business unit of Kleta Mobility S.L., dedicated to the sale and subscription of urban bicycles for both individuals and businesses. This integration, authorized by the court, will be formalized in the coming days and will enable the company to expand its portfolio of services and consolidate its presence in Spain.
The transaction includes the incorporation of a base of over 2,000 active customers in Spain, a fleet of both electric and mechanical bicycles, a well-recognized brand in the urban cycling sector, and a team of 13 people who will join the Cooltra project to continue delivering sustainable and accessible urban mobility solutions. In all cases, seniority, job category and salary will be respected.
“For Cooltra, the integration of Kleta Mobility is a natural step in our growth strategy. This operation reaffirms our commitment to more sustainable, inclusive and efficient urban mobility, while allowing us to strengthen our value proposition, diversify our services and continue offering real alternatives to private vehicles,” says Timo Buetefisch, co-founder and CEO of Cooltra. “At a pivotal moment for cities and for the planet, we are firmly backing the bicycle as a means of transport. I want to thank all the people who have made this possible. Their effort, passion and dedication enable us to keep pedaling towards a cleaner, more human and more connected future”
Like Cooltra, Kleta was born in Barcelona out of a need identified by its founders. Falk Siegel and Diego Casabe created the company in 2020, during the pandemic, although the idea had emerged months earlier. Kleta offers bicycles on a quarterly or annual subscription basis, including services such as maintenance, home repairs and anti-theft guarantees. Users can personalize their experience with additional accessories.
Today, Kleta has a fleet of over 2,000 bicycles, more than half of which are electric. What began as a service for private users (B2C) has evolved to include tailored solutions for businesses and institutions (B2B).
