Cooltra, the European leader in sustainable two-wheeled mobility solutions, announces the acquisition of CYCLE in Italy, effective from Tuesday, 11 June 2025. This strategic step reinforces Cooltra’s presence in the rapidly growing electric urban logistics sector.
The transaction includes the management of nearly 700 electric bicycles, a fleet used by over 500 couriers and B2B customers operating in Milan, Rome and Turin. Cooltra will guarantee service continuity by taking full charge of all administrative/legal and operational/management aspects, ensuring local technical support and daily maintenance.
Moreover, 80% of CYCLE Italia’s workforce will be directly integrated into the Cooltra team, reaffirming the company’s commitment to job creation within the sustainable mobility sector.
“This strategic acquisition underscores our ambition to grow and consolidate Cooltra’s presence in the sustainable mobility sector over the next years in Italy. It is a natural evolution for Cooltra: it enables us to achieve economies of scale in operations and to focus on profitability, leveraging the extensive experience and expertise we have built over the past ten years,” says Enrico Pascarella, Managing Director of Cooltra Italia. “Integrating CYCLE’s operations not only strengthens our presence in Italy’s major cities but also accelerates the development of a truly useful and sustainable urban logistics ecosystem. With a solid and professional team, we aim to generate operational synergies and increase efficiency, while maintaining a strong focus on service quality and enhancing our positive environmental impact to meet growing market demand.”
About the acquisition, Luis Orsini-Rosenberg, CEO & Co-Founder of the CYCLE Group, says “Cooltra has a strong presence in Italy and is the ideal partner to build on the solid foundations we’ve established. We’re proud of the operations and community we’ve grown, and we’re confident that Cooltra will continue to deliver outstanding service to riders across the country. This agreement also enables us at CYCLE to focus more on our core markets, where we continue to see exciting growth opportunities.”
The integration comes at a key moment. In 2024, the Italian e-bike market surpassed 318,000 units sold, with forecasts predicting over 1.18 million units by 2033, driven by urban logistics and shared mobility services. At European level, the electric cargo bike market — essential for last-mile delivery — is expected to reach a value of €28.7 billion by 2034, with an annual growth rate of 33.9%*.
With this move, Cooltra consolidates its role as a leader in sustainable logistics and positions itself to drive the transformation of urban mobility in both Italy and Europe.
In 2024, Cooltra continued its strategy of growth and consolidation at both national and international levels, closing the fiscal year with a turnover of €60 million — a 32% increase compared to the previous year — and maintaining a positive EBITDA since 2019. The long-term fleet rental segment for businesses and public administrations (B2B) showed steady growth, with a 4% increase compared to 2023, reaching €14.5 million in revenue.
